Story:

Thirty-two club members registered for the Terry Barry initiated Snake Island and Wilsons Prom long weekend, a final turnout of 23 boats and 25 paddlers set a new record for a VSKC winter time trip. A weekend of relatively kind weather also allowed a great social get-together around the traditonal evening campfire at the Cattlemen's Huts on Snake island. Even some of the sea kayaking stories told by the impressive line-up of the club's experienced paddlers had a genesis of accuracy about them! Level 0 to Club Accredited Instructors made up the diverse range of paddlers who enjoyed the weekend. Well done Terry - another fantastic weekend in the Wilson's Promontory area.

The generosity of the Snake Islands cattlemen Association in allowing us the use of the huts helped make this a weekend to remember. Members are reminded that booking is essential for the use of the huts along with a camp permit form parks Victoria.

Of special note is the parking, loading and unloading at the Port Welshpool boat ramp area. Please take note that the "tracks" which give access to the beach from the parking area are for pedestrian traffic only, even though they look like driveways. Members narrowly missed being fined for using these with vehicles despite no signage to the contrary. Also remember that parking in the boat ramp area is permit holders only and once unloaded you should park your car outside of the area
