This is our monthly Club paddle and is perfect for paddlers of any grade. New and prospective members are encouraged to attend so we can help you get a start in your paddling journey with the Club. It is a great paddle to meet other members, practice your skills, learn about equipment and share trip ideas.
If you are an ungraded member ready to be assessed, we can sign off your Sea Kayak Basics grading on this trip. If doing the SKB assessment, there will be a short swim at the end of the trip so please dress warmly for this activity.
It is a leisurely paddle to Mornington for a coffee and lunch stop, then return. Bring lunch along or you can buy something at the café at Mornington.
The paddle will not run or may be moved if the wind forecast is much over 15 knots or conditions are otherwise unsuitable. I will confirm the paddle once I have a relatively stable weather forecast.
Dress appropriately wearing fleece under your cag. Have warm clothes for the stop at Mornington in a dry bag and windproof gear. It will be cool moist likely!
Thermos of hot soup, tea or coffee is good at lunchtime - or purchase hot food from the cafe.
Dress for cold water immersion and bring/wear a windproof outer garment (e.g. a cag). Never wear a rashee or cotton clothing as they wick away your warmth.
Please check the forecast beforehand to ensure that you will enjoy the trip (e.g. bom.gov.au/australia/meteye or www.willyweather.com.au/vic/mornington-peninsula/canadian-bay.html)
Any queries, new paddlers in particular, please text me on 0419 340 851 and I'll call you back.
