Want to get out of the City for the long weekend? The aim of this paddle is to explore the northern coast of Wilsons Prom and surrounds, and potentially further south weather permitting. It is gorgeous coast and country. We will keep moving around to sample the delights on offer, but we will not be doing big distances so we can savour our surrounds and enjoy. We will start the trip at Port Welshpool on Saturday and head over to the northern coast of the Prom on the outgoing tide via Granite Island to camp at Tin Mine Cove or nearby for two nights (~18 kms). On Sunday we will head East with outgoing tide back along the coast taking in the sites and return to our camp at Tin Mine Cove (~ 15 kms). On Monday we will return to Port Welshpool ~16 kms (potentially visiting Snake Island), which may involve some paddling against an outgoing tide. You will need all food, water and kit for the 3 days. Given fire restrictions on The Prom, camp fires are not permitted (sorry). Meet at Port Welshpool near the general store in time for a 9.30 am launch. Tides are all important in this area so being punctual is important.
Please note that sea conditions on this paddle can vary greatly. There can be significant chop and wind on tide in Corner Inlet and we may encounter swell and surf depending how far south we decide to paddle. Currents can be strong and there are two crossings over 12 kms with no landings mid paddle.
